12 Days of Natsmas: Get ready with me – Christmas Party (10)

I did my face Wednesday night for my friend Christmas Party and thought youd like to know which products I used to achieve this look:

In order of application I used:

New Look – finishing spray – (I know you’re meant to use it at the end but I do it at the beginning aswell as I read an article from a pole dancer saying that’s what she does to make her makeup last aalllll night)

Seventeen Stay Time Long Wear Primer – It stinks but as long as you apply it quickly before it dries it should last

Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation – Its just a nice medium coverage foundation which amount wise has lasted a long time

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – It does the job, great for red pigment but not so great for shielding spots and dark circles – concealer is a tricky one for me

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer – This is great for dark circles and does help with spots aswell.

Baby Powder – yes I used this as a baking powder – mostly to hide my dark circles even more – It’s a very tiring time of year!

Eyebrows – I always use a very old combination eye shadow for this because I haven’t found anything to be as good

Collection Sheer Loose Powder – This is meant to set your face – I’m not sure whether that is true but for some reason it does have the tendency to make you a bit orange. I still use it everyday anyway as it seems to make your face all one colour at least

MUA Pro-Base Eye Primer – Does the job very well actually and creates the perfect base for your eyes – minimal smudge

Eyeshadow – For this look I used a range of colours from both The Active Cosmetics Interchangeable eye pallet and W7’s “The Big Five”.

L’Oreal Super Liner – I used this just to finish off my eyes in order to add a bit or drama

Maybelline Lash Sensational – I used this instead of false lashes in the end and to be honest it gave the same effect while looking a whole lot more natural – this mascara is definitely one of my favourites.

Collection Highlight and Sculpt – I used this for my bronzer and highlighter as it’s a very subtle yet buildable highlight and I perfect sculpting bronzer.

MUA Lipstick _ I lost this colour that night and cannot remember the exact colour although when looking online I believe it is shade 1.

Complete the look with some final finishing spray and you’re all set to Rock around the Christmas Tree

All of these products are very affordable and sourced from high street shops which just shows you don’t have to spend a lot to get a lot.

Hope you enjoyed it, a video should be uploaded to the YouTube Channel soon of this if you want to see it in action

12 Days of Natsmas: Christmas Day in the life (9)

I mean…it’s pretty self explanatory

I know, I missed a day, Im sorry. However, I have realised that this now means we are on track now as I accidently started the “12 days” a day early, so now it means we’ll finish on christmas eve as planned. My math skills are clearly lacking.

7:30 – (not so) rudely awoken by my mother after my alarm failed.

7:45 – Actually got out of bed and went down stairs to a breakfast of Pain au Chocolat. Very nice, only ate one of them so hid the other in the bin because I was too full and in a rush.

*Cue a day if College “fun” with hardly any christmas events whatsoever.*

2:00 – Driving lesson, I’m pretty sure that my instructor was half an hour early but I may be wrong.

3:30 – Arrived home and had a drink – im not entirely sure why this took so long but…

4:00 – danced around my room whilst deciding what to wear to tonight’s christmas party – whoop, whoop.

Finally settled on a basic grey vest top (which was once my brothers) with a burgundy bralette. Plus my glittery skirt which many of you may have seen in my outfits blog post. And some tights and a grey, bobbly cardigan because it’s bloomin freezing.

4:30- carried on dancing even though I have to leave in 30 mins and have a naked face.

4:38 – finally started doing my make up (filmed a very quick get ready of me that should go on the YouTube Channel at some point!

5:10 – Left house late to pick up friend and take to other friends house

5:54 – began peeling and cutting veg at friends house ready for Friend xmas dinner, had in depth discussion about which way to slice carrots – settled on coins so there appears more!

6:32 – Veg all prepared and in saucepans on hob, ready to begin boiling. I have begin drinking cider at this point as the stress surrounding our hostess is not as contagious as it should be.

6:50 – My “Christmas Dinner” playlist begins and the three of us decide where we will sit on the table (together).

7:10 – Guests begin arriving, veg begins to boil and Cauli-broc is put in oven.

7:30 – Yorkshires arrive and most of the guests are here, many photos are taken by our hostess’ Christmas tree – drinks are in full swing at this point. As some guests are really quite late (and are bringing the pigs in blankets and Potatoes) the veg and oven are turned waaaayyyyy down.

7:55 – food is all dished up and as we begin eating the final guests arrived with the (pre -cooked, thankfully) food.

8:00 – crackers are pulled, jokes are told, life is good.

9:10 – I make a (slightly drunken) speech thanking hostess and cooker and then everyone begins chanting meaning I have to finish off a bottle of lambrini- bad idea. We then open our secret santas – I recieve: Hot Chocolate, Cocktail mixers, another bottle of lambrini and some slipper socks – lovely!

9:50 – after a (not so) quick bathroom and smoke break we begin our quiz after being randomly genorated into teams – that somehow made every couple into the same team accidentally.

10:40 – the quiz is over, my team one – somehow, even though i could see entirely well by this point. We spend the next 20 mins dancing to everyones fave songs (including mans not hot – i mean wow *sarcastic*)

11:10 – we head home and I stumble up to bed, slightly sick and spinning. This is what happens when a party finishes early- you reach your drunk peak when you arrive home – sad really.

Anyway, that was my Christmassy day

I hope you enjoyed that little outlook into my life – this is not a typical day but was very special as I got to celebrate the holidays with my closest friends and eat a hella lot of food

Merry Natsmas!

12 Days of Natsmas: Christmas Cocktails and Mocktails (8)

FUN FACT: I Love mixing drinks and so can regularly be found being to mixologist at the party making a deadly concoction that will make you very drunk, very quickly (mostly because you drink it like water cause it tastes so good and then suffer the consequences later once you realise the strength of it!) So anyway, this blog post is going to be LIT! *cringe*

Each of these are equally delicious with or without alcohol, all the recipes listed are with alcohol but if you take away that it can still be enjoyed soberly. I cannot take credit for all of these at all as most are recipes taken from else where and then edited for clarification and general accessibility. If you make any of them … sorry.
Side note – add ice to all of these as it just makes it better – even if it is a little cold for winter
First up is one I have forgotten the name of and so shall be called “Rouge Reindeer” for some Christmas cheer.
a sliced orange
30 ml – cream of coconut
450 ml – cranberry juice
250 ml – pineapple juice
125 ml – peach schnapps
175 ml – vodka
The original version have over 4 L of liquid in it so I reduced this down a bit so it’s now just over 1L – a tad more manageable. however, if your lucky enough to go to or host a crazy rager then just times these measurements by 4 for an absolute full tub of “Rouge Reindeer”
Next up we have “Christmas Day Prosecco Punch” from KITCHEN SANCTUARY but I have made a slight change to it so if you want to see the original click here
This again is for a large portion so i have halved the recipe
2 Clementines
50 g – Cranberries
40 g – pomegranate seeds
1 limes juice
some fresh mint leaves (whatever ya like)
250 ml – Orange Juice (it says clementine but, life, who has that lying around?)
350 ml – Pomegranate Juice
half a bottle of Prosecco (or a whole one if you like the fizz or more if you dont want the voddy)
150 ml – Vodka
1 L – Cranberry Juice
Now for something a bit more fancy, because we like a bit of class, here on Natsmas.
We have the “Santa Claus – Mopolitan” from Blue Ribbon Kitchen (full recipe here)
This is one the other end of the Spectrum as only makes a glass (I think) so I had to increase the amount of liquid volume!
470 ml – Cranberry Juice
470 ml – Peach Juice
110 ml – Triple Sec
55 ml – Vodka
For a more crazy looking one we have “Jack Frost”, I have no idea who created this fantastic concoction as the recipe I have in anonymous…oh well – edited by me again
470 ml – Pineapple Juice
130 ml – Blue curacao
130 ml – Light rum
130 ml – cream of coconut
a tin of pineapple slices (small one – preferably chopped but up to you really)
Finally, A cocktail I CANNOT BELIEVE EXISTS! It is the Essex Cocktail. I found it on ehow many moons ago and have wanted to make it since, but to be honest – am too scared (edited again)
150 ml – Lemon Vodka
150 ml – Vodka
150 ml – Peppermint Liqueur
150 ml – Blackberry Schnapps
NO MIXERS REQUIRED!?
Yep – if you make this one RIP, but do tell me how it went…if you can remember…after recovering…3 days later…
Merry Drunken Natsmas!

12 Days of Natsmas: Fave Christmas Food (7)

You know what? This may be my favourite topic to talk about. Who am I kidding THIS IS THE BEST TOPIC TO BLOG ABOUT!

Yes that’s right FOOOOOOODDDDD!!!

Today I will giving you a list of my top picks for Christmas nibbles and meals. Some will be branded whereas others are more general foods (this could even be a hint to everyone out there looking at what to get me for Christmas!)

To start off with it what Christmas is made of for me. Since discovering these a few years ago, I have fallen in love. They are paired perfect with a cup of tea, adding to your daily calorie intake in no time. These are the “Favourina Spiced Biscuits” you can find at Lidl for a measly £1.39. they taste absolutely glorious and I’ve already been through a whole pack this Christmas! They are a perfect size and have festive cut outs on them – beautiful!

Next up is a more general one which I often eat all year round (on a sunday – hint hint), but are extra special in winter, especially Christmas day! This is Roast Potatoes (preferably in gravy). I belive that this is the best part of any roast dinner, however, they are hard to get just right. I often find my self tucking into a soggy or try potato which to be honest is not acceptable. No one should have to suffer the pain of sinking their teeth into a soggy tat. May your days be blessed with fluffy and crispy tatas!

A perfect pair to our perfect tats is gravy. I mean, you literally cannot have a roast without it. When you think about it, the concept of pouring meaty water over your food is a tad strange but it sure does taste good! My personal favourite would be “Bisto Best” – i’m going to be honest when I first saw it I though it would all be a con to get more money out of you (as it is a bit on the pricey side of gravy) however, once i tried it in my own roast, i never went back! There are now lots of different flavours so if you fancy being a bit more fancy this Christmas… Click here

Next up we have chocolate which to be honest is the thing that makes you put on the pounds. I discovered my favourite this year actually. It wasn’t my first time eating it by a long shot but I realised how addictive I found them. them being “Maltesers” of course. The “merry teaser mini reindeer’s” they bring out are even more tasty and add a little Christmas spirit to your bite. Truly adorable, see all the products Morrisons alone do for Malteser here

Another fantastic Christmassy treat is the Yule Log. Not a specific product but an amazing bake all the same. I’m not the biggest fan of Christmas Pudding, so this is what I’ll be eating come christmas day desert. A close cousin to the yule log is the roly-poly which is equally delicious with some custard and is guaranteed to warm up your insides.

Last but by no means least is a dish that I can just picture all my friends waiting for. That is the famous Coombs Cheese Board. Although this is enjoyed by the family all year round (only Friday to Sunday of course) it gets a glamorous update around Christmas time. In fact below I have included a picture of our fridge currently, getting ready for Christmas:

(yes that is a whole shelf of cheese)

There is no Christmas without Cheese and Buiscas

(Nice Rhyme)

Anyway Merry Natsmas to all, and to all good night

12 Days of Natsmas: Top 10 Christmas Movies (6)

After yesterdays Shambles of a blog post I am very happy to have a more relaxing article to write you. Today i will be sharing my pick of the top 10 Christmas films. I must add that i have only included the well known ones as I have seem hundreds of little known ones (thanks to Channel 5) and to be honest, they all share the same story line: Girl loses Christmas spirit, finds it in a man. Don’t get me wrong, I love them and do entirely enjoy them but…I mean… they could mix it up a bit.

I have actually just returned from a Carol Service which was lovely and has made me feel all warm inside so I am officially ready for Christmas (although I will be praying that my mums Christmas present arrives on time!)

Anyway, let us begin, I have decided to order the following most popular Christmas films from that I like most to least: Elf, Home Alone, It’s a Wonderful Life, Love Actually, The Polar Express, White Christmas, The Muppets Christmas Carol, The Grinch, Jingle All The Way, The Holiday, Arthur Christmas and Nativity!… those that have “their eye on the ball” will realize that there are 12 films listed. I know, a travesty, but if you want an honest “TOP 10” then just ignore the first 2.

So just to get it out the way with, this is the order I personally would like to put them in:

The Grinch

Love Actually

Elf

Nativity!

Arthur Christmas

White Christmas

The Muppets Christmas Carol

The Holiday

The Polar Express

It’s a Wonderful Life

Jingle All The Way

Home Alone

But… like all great blogists…bloggers…I must be scientific with my justification so I have rated them in 3 categories and then put them into order after adding them all up. The 3 categories are: Christmassyness, How much I like them and How likely I am to watch them this Christmas (very self-centered, I know!)

So with that in mind, this is the new order from highest to lowest points:

29 – The Grinch

28 – Arthur Christmas, The Muppets Christmas Carol, Nativity!, Elf

27 – Love Actually

25 – The Holiday

24 – The Polar Express

23 – White Christmas

17 – Jingle all the way

16 – It’s a Wonderful Life, Home Alone

I mean that should be blasphemy, to put a classic such as “It’s a Wonderful Life” AT THE BOTTOM!

But anyway, still happy Home Alones down there,

Merry Natsmas (half way there!!!)

12 Days of Natsmas: Christmas outfits for all occasions (5)

Hello my dears,

Today we shall be delving into the fortress that is my Wardrobe where I shall select for you a range of outfits for the christmas period, suitable for a range of occasions; formal, party, work and casual.

Be warned: I am not a model, I do not have a decent camera phone so used my semi decent camera that is having an off day annoyingly, so…yeah…

Up First is our “out out” attire which is this little sequin dress that I wore to a New Years Eve party last year, I think it embodies this time of year and all the celebration it brings, because, lets be honest…you can never have too much glitter and sparkle!

This gorgeous dress is originally from New Look and I bought it to begin with to wear to my prom after party, so it does hold a lot of good memories.

Next we have this lil outfit which is probably one of my favourite looks in this collections of pics. After seeing a picture on pinterest ages ago i’ve been looking for an entirely glittery skirt and I stumbled on this one whilst following my mum around a charity shop. It truly is a gem and is now one of my favourite items in my wardrobe. I love the colours and style and it isnt too short on my ridiculously long legs which i must say is hard to fine normally. The skirt is from H&M (one of my favourite highstreet stores) and the jumper i paired it with has been in my life a long ass while, which is shocking as it’s from Primark, and…their stuff dont usually last too long – still lovely, years later.

Now we come to this little Christmas Sweat that I bought in the January sales last year at Peacocks. I just think it’s so simply festive and it not so crazy that you cant wear it with anything. Today I chose to pair it with my basic Skinny black jeans from Matalan, I do think this is a very versatile sweat tho so Im gonna have a bit of fun switching it up.

My brother tried to persuade me not to buy this jumper (mostly because it’s an XL and im a solid M) but it was reduced to £5 in Peacocks so I could not resist. The brown shade is actually glittery threat meaning it also adds a little magic to your normal wardrobe, perfect for this time of year! You can dress it up a bit to go out in or as part of your day-to-day wardrobe. Either way it is comfy and not too thick so doesn’t overheat you.

We now move on to outer wear with this gorgeous, formal coat that I got from New Look actually on my birthday last year. I have been sporting pretty much every day, with any outfit (because it’s freezing atm). You can literally wear it with any outfit and immediately smarten yourself up.

I knew I needed to add a poncho to my collection last year and when I saw this one in Matalan, i immediately fell in love with the colours. I love wearing grey and the extra added burgandy and teal colours grabbed me. Super warm, but not entirely practical.

Speaking of practicality – DO NOT WEAR THIS AT DINNER! Literally, those tassles go in everything. This is a super cute poncho all the same thought and this one is from Dorothy Perkins (get me). V FESTIVE!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed that little look into my wardrobe – AND LIFE. And I hope you were able to fine some inspiration in all of this – let me know your fave outfit of your own or pick one of mine, i’d love to see what you face the winter chill in!

Merry Natsmas!

12 Days of Natsmas: Christmas Present Inspiration (4)

I am writing this whilst watching “The Holiday” and Jude Law just said ‘You’re lovely’ to Cameron Diaz, so basically…im very happy right now!

But anyway on with todays post, and what a complex one I have for you today. It’s something we get worry about every year, so I thought that if I told you mine for the year, they may inspire you.

But first I must say, you probably tell yourself every year, but try to get them done as early as you can, cause IT JUST MAKES IT EASIER!!!

But anyway, I wont judge. We’re all friends here. So let us start with the REAL head of my house hold, me mamma.

This year she actually chose her own Christmas present (though, i dont think she remembers!) a few months ago, which was a bamboo wind chime. This particular one was from The Range (an AMAZING homewear shop we have in the UK). Unfortunately, that particular one is now out of stock. However I found an equally pretty one on the fantastic world of ebay which better come in time for Christmas. So yes, there you, not your typical christmas present, but special all the same.

Next up is my grand papa (my dad, not grandad – im not sure why I called him that). I actually bought him his gift MONTHS AGO because…well earlier this year we became a little bit obsessed with this little known TV show, you may have heard of it “The Walking Dead”? Clearly thats a joke, we’re a bit late on the band wagon with that one. But yes we had the season 1 boxset so I bought him upto season 5. Simple, yet literally perfect. However, thats a bit basic on its own so I plan on attempting to get my hands on a paddington christmas decoration that m&s are selling, however online they say SOLD OUT sooooo…im a little concerned, but there may be a way…

Next up is the burded many sisters must face, the brothers. I have 2 much older, but much nicer brothers than…other…ones…sorry not sure where I was going with that. Anyway, the oldie is getting his own jar of Biscoff spread (since he always steals ours) and also some very warm PJ bottoms which he actually asked for. He was probably one of the easier people to buy for.

The younger one (still older than me) is recieving some spicey chilli sauce since any thing we cook isnt hot enough apparently. He will also open the most exciting (in my opinion) present i am giving this year which i believe is Per-Fect for him. It combines a book, lord of the rings and comedy as its a parody story of one of the most famous series’ in the world. Its called “the bored of the rings” and i found it in a little book store over a year ago.

So there you go, an insight into some of the gifts im giving this year. If you want any more ideas/inspiration or just simply what im getting my other families and friends, let me know!

Anyway, i hope you enjoyed and I shall see you tomorrow!!!

12 Days of Natsmas: How to Survive Awkward Christmas Moments (3)

This may be the most important post you read this Christmas so, don’t stop… you have been warned.

Hello Darlings,

Today I will be guiding you on how to get out of life’s most awkward Christmas moments, because lets facts it, it’s a sticky time of year, awkwardness lurks at every Christmas tree filled corner. So I shall waste no time at all because some of these may have occurred already:

1) PRESENTS

This has it’s own section because SOOOOO much can go wrong with presents, it’s bad enough picking them out for everyone else, but you forget the horror of having to open them in front of everyone else.

The First one is opening a present, you absolutely hate, like literally does this person even know you? What is it? What is that? What does it do? I can’t even! But little do you know, whilst these questions are rushing through your head, your face is reacting to them, meaning that everyone can see EXACTLY WHAT YOU THINK OF THAT VERY PRECIOUS ARTICLE YOU HAVE IN YOUR HANDS!!! Do not fret. All you need to do is simply carry on looking down at the gift and then act like you suddenly realise how amazing it is and smile, look up and for God’s sake, SAY THANK YOU. What a lovely…thing they have gifted. If they look a bit apprehensive, simple state that you didn’t realise what it was, but now you know…WOW! Perfection, honestly -_-

The other arguably worse thing that can occur is when you unwrap something, and you know EXACTLY what it is. It may be a overly-sexual gift from your lover or something much more cheeky than grandma thought. When this occurs, I can’t really give you much help. I just hope for your sake that there aren’t too many people watching at the time. All I can suggest is giggling slightly WITHOUT ATTRACTING TOO MUCH ATTENTION and then sliding “it” back into “it’s” box or wrapping paper and sliding it behind you as fast as possible, again WITHOUT ATTRACTING TOO MUCH ATTENTION!

*Shudders* moving on

2) CARDS

Possibly the most common and probably ,most awkward moment that happens to everyone at some point in their life, forgetting someone’s Christmas Card. I can picture it now, giving some of you HOARD of cards out to friends or family and then walking up to another, GETTING THEIR ATTENTION…and frantically looking through your pile, before saying “Oh”. I am so sorry for you. All you can do i’m afraid is ensure that you make a full list before writing them out, going through them with someone else and double checking all your group chats to ensure no one is left out.

Equal to this is being of the receiving end or…not receiving end. Basically if you can see someone’s left you out, be nice. As seen in the paragraph above, they probably genuinely did just forget. Don’t take it to heart, just laugh and say don’t worry, give it to be next time. Who knows, you may even get an extra present from all the bother they caused?

3) FAMILY

This needs to be a whole novel itself, here’s just a few though:

“Reuniting” with someone who hasn’t seen you since you ‘were this tall’. I mean, who is this woman? Why am I being forced to kiss her cheek? What do you want from me? Are you important? Literally, I don’t think anyone you ask could answer you these questions clearly and confidently. Just be polite, who knows they may get you a present – wait, I’ve already said that, sorry, priorities – be polite – they may help you out in the future/you might make their day?

Now this THIS is what kills me. The Love Life Question. Got a Boyfriend yet Natalie? No, i haven’t YET Auntie Jane! There are a few ways you can answer this, or a question like this, obviously the first one mentioned is what usually happens but you may be also tempted to go “Not yet Deerdrie, Got a new hip yet?” or “Still pretending that’s your natural hair colour?” or even “Have you?” Cause to be honest, if they have the cheek to interview you on your love life choices or…lack of them, you have the right to hit back. But to be honest, they’re family and it IS Christmas, so just be polite again…or failing that passive aggressive and sarcastic (you can rant about it later).

Lastly, we come to when you ask THE WRONG QUESTION and it literally makes your stomach churn (not good after all that Turkey and Wine). They’ve either broken up with that person, or lost that job or some other tragedy and literally what are you meant to do, it was perfectly innocent. Just say something like “Oh, I’m so sorry” or “there’ll be others” or “Good, I never liked them anyway”, though, that last one could be a bit dodgy if they get back together after Christmas. Then move the conversation on, VERY VERY QUICKLY, so at least they wont resent you for too long.

Well, there we go. A full list of the most awkward moments around Christmas, believe me, there are maaannnnny more so if you would like something else like this is the future (maybe a new years or valentine version) let me know

See you tomorrow and Merry Natsmas!

12 days of Natsmas: Fave Baubles and my Tree (2)

Good Morning/Noon/Night my loves and welcome to Natsmas Day 2!

Today’s blog post also has a very short youtube video to go with it which you can go to here: Natsmas Day 2

Below are my picks for my favourite baubles on my tree this year which will be most unhelpful to you seeing as I have no clue where they are from, but anyway – here we go

I mean show me a bauble that better embodies Christmas.

I love the colours, i love the patterns and how else would you top off Christmas than with a little bit a shine (the gem in the middle) – PERFECTION!

I mean… LOOK AT IT…I feel like a posh ass b*tch. This is quite possibly the fanciest bauble on my tree. I mean look at that shiny bod, those swirls of gold and the little baby silver gem leaves. Gorgeous.

I swear she does have a face, the flash was justa tad bright. This little gem I actually bought my self many moons ago when I was a wee girlie. It was never intended to be Christmas decoration but has gained the title after being accidentally put away with the other xmas boxes. I just love the colours and her dress and winds so much – PLUS check the pointed toes, girls got strong ankles.

Last but not least we have this beautiful specimen that I actually made myself with some buttons and cork and glue. I am quite proud with how it turned out but I will take no credit for the idea as it wasn’t mine and im sure if you really want you can find instructions online and believe me if I can do it, anyone can.

Hope you enjoyed that little post and also my very short vid

See you tomorrow and Happy Natsmas!
