Blogmas Day 22: Fantastic Beast’s and where to find them review

I literally got back from watching “Fantastic Beasts and where to find them” about an hour ago which is why this blog post is up a little later that usual. I thought that I would share with you my view of the film and so obviously I’m warning you now that it will contain some spoilers so TURN BACK (if you haven’t watched it yet)!

So a little back story. I grew up with the Harry Potter films but haven’t actually read the books so some may say I’m a fake fan. I do love the story though with a passion and have always loved the magical world they live in and the fact it is in our everyday world… But most of us don’t know about it. It’s such a gorgeous storyline (in the beginning atleast) and I actually just love all the characters. My favourites probably being; Dobby, Snape, Neville and Luna (to name just a few) and of course the 3 main stars.

I walked into the film with not much hope for this new film entering the wizards for world though I’m afraid. I was worried because Harry Potter has always been a very British film and didn’t want America ruining the whole thing. Luckily for me though the whole story line hardly touched the original plot as they were Infact in New York the whole time.

Now is when I get very critical in my film analysis, please don’t hate me too much.

The positives were that the graphics were amazing and I absolutely loved all the creatures and their little homes in Mr Scamanders suitcase. I though the sheer size of it was a bit over the top at first but it does add an element of sweetness and adds to the fact that Newt is trying to save and protect them. The beasts themselves were very creative (and some of them were awfully cute too) and I loved the fact that each one had their own weaknesses (Niffler – stealing shiny things). I especially loved Pickett the Bowtruckle who has attachment issues and is treated like Newts son. Although the Bowtruckles did remind me of groot from Guardians of the Galaxy but that’s probably just because they’re both plants.

One thing I didn’t like about the film was the love story between Newt Scamanders and Porpetunia Goldstein. I found it unnecessary when we already had the adorable relationship between Queenie and Jacob (which I did like). I think I would’ve preferred them to remain “work” friends instead of the awkward flirting at the end of the film. The problem is that Hollywood find it hard to believe that they can create a film with two characters of opposite gender and not have them fall in “love”. What is Newt was gay? Hmmm? Maybe this is just me being picky because I think Eddie Redmayne is just amazing (even though he plays the same part in every film – another bad trait of Hollywood actors).

This was just me quick review of the film I watched. Overall od rate it 6.5 or 7/10 because it was a fine film but wasn’t really my cup of tea. But to be fair to them, following Harry Potter will never be an easy task for anyone. I think they accomplished their aims of the film and just hope that the story gets a bit more exciting as they continue the films (which lets face it they defo will) because if I’m honest I was not leaning at the edge of my seat even though there were some shocks and reveals (more like Scooby Doo reveals than Star Wars though).

Of course these are just my own opinions and of course I may have been a bit harsh in places but I included both positives and negatives. If you would like to offer your own views on the story or film please do feel free to.

Merry Blogmas

Blogmas Day 21: New Years Resolution Reflection

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you will know that at the beginning of the WA I made a blog post titled: “Happy New Year my darling” where I stated 3 New Years resolutions I made for the year 2016. And today I looked back on it and realised that I actually did pretty damn well.

My first resolution was to “get that summer bod” which okay was a huge flop. This year I left school and so no longer had to do any type of fitness or sport in school. So basically have done nothing all year and am the most unhealthy I have ever been. So yeah that is definitely gonna be a resolution to make next year aswell. I’m not even gonna attempt to try and get fit by the end of the year because 1) I have 10 days and 2) it’s Christmas so I plan to eat and be lazy along with most other people. I did get a exercise bike this year though so do have the possibility of getting fit. Also I have a new found love for Yoga and meditation which although won’t get you ripped af, will help you tone and get your mental health in shape.

My second New Years Resolution was to get a job and I can safely say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! It may be a Christmas temp job which will more that likely end in January but I still got one. And I just realised that I have had 2 Jobs prior to this as well as a handful of interviews which will hopefully boost my confidence for job searches in the future. For those interested I worked in a advertising agency for Tribute acts early in the year and a vintage online clothing line in the summer and now work at a shop which I will not name because I don’t want them to fire me.

My last resolution for the year that’s passed was to save up some money and buy a camera. This one is by far the best accomplished one. Through the first half of the year I saved up all by own money and then went out and bought myself a half decent camera which I did Infact take to both Tenerife and Thailand (which you may know if you are subscribed to my YouTube Channel – NatsChatsTV. It has proven very useful and great for taking photos. I have recently noticed though that there is an odd hollow sound in the background of filming which you only hear when filming something quiet (not a concert though) so have no idea what that is all about. But yes this year a kicked off my YouTube channel which although had not proven to be overly popular, is great fun and something I hope to carry on.

Looking back at the resolutions I made scares me a little bit cause it shows how fast time has flies. This has been a ridiculously busy year for me and I feel like I have never grown up more in a short amount of time in my life. For example if you looked at the person I was at the beginning of the summer and the person I am now you would never think they had met, let alone were the same person. I have definetly grown up a lot and think that I am a mostly more happy person.

Please do let me know if you too stuck to your resolutions or not in the comments.

Here’s to 2017!

Blogmas Day 20: Little Things Mean alot

Today I would like to talk to you about the little things. They really do mean a lot. For example when on the off chance one of you lovely people comments on my blog I cannot express the huge amount of fulfilment and gratefulness that flows through me. I am sent an email whenever I get a like or comment or new follower and let me tell you, when I do receive that email it is the highlight of my day. I don’t think most people realise how much everyone else means to them. For example I sometimes struggle to tell others (my friends and family) how thankful I am when they do the smallest things. This is more focussed on friends I feel. Your friends have chosen to stay with you, your family it has no choice. Isn’t that amazing? The fact there are people out there that chose you to enjoy themselves with instead of anyone else. I think that’s the most precious thing in the human world. The fact that unknowingly, we have the capability of completely changing another’s perspective, mood and aim. For a less uplifting example; if a person was walking along the street and you have them a compliment, said hello, offered spare change, or just simply smiled. Think of how much of an impact that would make on their day. You have no idea where there were going, could be on their way to a boring day at work and you made it a little less boring. Could’ve been on their way to a very important meeting and you relaxed them…
Could’ve been on their way to end their own life, and you made them think against it instead.
Most of you reading this are probably thinking I’m mental which I hate to tell you, also backs up my point. No matter what your thinking, I have intact impacted your day in some way. I hope this will be for the better. This little blog post has made you, my dear reader, think.
Even if that was just for a little while.
But none the less, I would like to thank you for doing so.
You see what this post is trying to say is that the little things do matter. But more specifically, thinking matters. I know that this post won’t have a major global impact and for example make world peace. But that’s not what I want, today atleast. I just wanted to remind you to think about what your doing. No, not with you lives, I don’t want to give all of you existential crisis’. Just while your talking to your friends or out Christmas shopping just think about what you do before you do something. Can you imagine if everyone did that? I know it’s a big ask because it has such big connotations.

A quote I heard the other day while watching Red Band Society had really haunted my thoughts. I’m pretty sure it featured in my other post about fave quotes: “Sometimes you don’t need to walk in another persons shoes to know how they feel, some times the best thing that you can do is sit beside them”. I don’t think I really understood this fully until now. I believe it’s saying that you don’t and won’t always have an answer to someone’s question. But there’s nothing wrong with that. As long as you’re there to listen to what they have to say that’s all that matters. Cause let me tell you, there is nothing more completely frustrating then not being able to share your thought, feeling or opinions. And it is so, so unhealthy to do so. Now reader I would like you to make me one single promise. If you have a strong emotion towards or about something. Never under any circumstances keep it inside you. You must share it. This could be you simply texting your best friend or screaming into a pillow (or someone’s face is they diserve it). Because I promise that once you do so another emotion will be taken off you’re shoulders also…worry. I hate worry with a passion. And as a fellow worrier myself I cannot express how good it feels when you realise what you were worrying about was absolutely nothing. A simple glitch in the system of your mind. Ah sweet relief, how I love you so.

I’m sorry if this style of blog post is not your cup of tea, I just felt like a change. And I’m not going to appologise for the rambles because that would be completely juxtaposing my whole point of sharing your emotion. Getting real here I do appreciate all those who read this blog because it means Im also impacting people’s lives which is just amazing. Thank you. I promise I will have a much more relaxed post tomorrow. I’ve been through a lot of emotions today for some reason and felt like I wanted to get creative with my words on my blog. Oh I do love a ramble.

Merry Blogmas Everyone!

Blogmas Day 19: My Christmas Day Outfit

I AM THE WORST BLOGGER IN THE WORLD!!!

ffs I missed it again, I am so, so sorry about the catasrphie which is Blogmas 2016. I dont know what’s happened, it all started off so well. My excuse for last night is, I forgot about it all day and then when I went out with my friends for a mini xmas quiz and party I suddenly remembered and asked my blogger friend (Amelia – http://swiftbooks13.blogspot.com/) to take apicture of what I was wearing as a little: what to wear at Christmas guide, nut then I proceeded to get a fair amount of alcohol in my system and well… the rest is history. So that is what I will do right now and we’re all gonna have to try to imagine that this blogpost went up yesterday, okay? On the upside, I did get round to filming a cheeky Vlog yesterday of a christmas Q and A whilst wrapping type thing. It may never see the light of day (YouTube) because im pretty sure what I filmed was a load of Sh**, but oh well.

Hello Friends today ( 😉 ) I am going to be sharing with you what I wore to a very casual Christmas meet up and what I thought would be a great idea to wear on Christmas Day aswell.

These are just basic skinny black jeans from New Look and a super soft Christmassy T-Shirt with 3D holly and different textured words from Matalan.

As it is cold outside I also put this gorgeously fluffy (on the inside) onesie from Tesco because I love the print and it’s christmas so you can get away with wearing one out and about…or ya know round a friends house for a quiz night.

There you go, thats the outfit I shall almost definetly be wearing come christmas day.

Merry Blogmas!

Blogmas Day 18: My Hair Dye Passion

Before I start I would just like to say I am aware that this is going up a day late but that is because christmas is a very busy time of year and I simply had no time to upload last night. I am also aware that this is not a very christmassy themed blog post but it is a real passion of mine and I feel like Blogmas is all about you getting to know me.

In todays blog I will be sharing and talking through some of my favourite hair colour ideas I have found on Pinterest over the years. But first allow me to tell you my hair colour story: I once ombre’d my hair red. Yeah thats it. For someone who is obsessed with coloured hair I have a pretty boring personal history of hair but I am still in a college which doesn’t like you having “un-natural” hair so for now i’ll just have to wait.

So anyway lets begin on our hair journey through the universe of pinterest…

THE OMBRE’S:

Here are the dyed hair styles which are a tad less crazy and vibrant for those that just want a hint of colour or just want to try it out before dying the whole thing. This is great cause it means if you do hate it you can just chop it off instead to going through the whole process of re dying or waiting for it to grow out.

This is so so pretty, and would look amazing especially if you had straight hair like the girl here.

I’ve actually always wanted to ombre my hair blue but of course as i mentioned earlier it aint that natural. This is a weirdly subtle blue though and is quite pastel which is also really pretty.

OMG SO MUCH COLOUR. This is perfect for those who love colour and I also think it looks great with this girls natural hair colour. Just think about how great it would look with loads of different updo’s.

I think this one is absolutely gorgeous! I love the fact that its a subtle lavender and it also goes really well with the woman’s bob shoulder length hair style.

This last one is a very fun and feminine ombre that I feel would probably look better with blonde that brunette and it also quite subtle as only a short amount has been dyed pink.

FULL ON COLOUR:

Pinners that have dyed their whole head cause they know what they want and are owning it! Get your bleach at the ready people.

This year was definitely the year for pastel’s and greys and I feel like this pin clearly represents both. Its a really cute mix of lavender and grey tones which work so well together.

Omg i just love everything about this; the hair, the makeup, the jewelry! So much so in fact I followed her on instagram: Sophiehannahrichardson (and mine’s nats_my_name – in case you were interested!)

What did i say about pastel shades? I love how random this hair colour choice is but it really works and also think it would suit literally any skin shade.

For my last pin I chose a darker shade which is equally as gorgeous. I think this would suit people who have naturally darker hair and think the added flower crown is amazing!

CRAZY COLOURS

The pro hair dyers which have amazing mermaid hair that belongs in a fairytale!

OML! I cannot even begin to explain how much I love these 2 colours together. I also think the woman’s hairstyle is pretty cool too, i think its diagonal!

There are many different names for this type of dying job but lets just say an under colour. I absolutely love this look and if given the opportunity (an money) to do it I wouldn’t hesitate!

To finish is one of my favourites. Who would think that this combination of colours would make something so gorgeous. Literally #goals

I hope you enjoyed this little window into the world of my passions. Merry Blogmas Everyone!

Blogmas Day 16: What Christmas means to me?

Okay so I may have accidentally skipped at day…But come on it’s my first time, everyone makes mistakes (cheeky 😉 )!

But to make it up to you I have uploaded a video to NatsChatsTV (my YouTube Channel for those who don’t know) where I showed you a quick summary of The 1975 show I went to last night. IT WAS AMAZING! Although it was the reason I didn’t upload a blog post. But just think instead of writing something I gave you something which requires much less effort (on your part at least) all you have to do is watch a video to find out what I was up to instead of reading a horrifically spelt blog.

But anyway moving onto today’s Blogmas I though I’d take advice from my old pal Stevie Wonder and tell you “what Christmas means to me”.

For many it’s a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ (It is a religious holiday dont forget) but I feel like it has evolved from the original meaning. To be it is now an opportunity to meet with all my family and friends which I may not normally see the rest of the year. It is also a time to show other people how much they mean to you (yes presents) and just generally have a little relax at the end of the year and reflect on what you have done and accomplished. I know that some of you may not celebrate Christmas due to difference in faith or any other opinion/belief but you can still join in on the season by simply enjoying yourself (at least most of you will get a day off).

As I said it’s also a great time to just chill after your busy year (its nearly over) and look forward to what the future brings. A great excuse to put of a few (or a few more than a few) pounds and allow yourself to smile and laugh and be merry. I find that many people try to disguise themselves and their true emotions nowadays because they’re scared of what others will think but, let us just think. If we all relaxed and let our emotions be free (just for once) then surely there would be no judgement and therefore no need for anyone to be putting up shields. Please remember this when you’re out and about this Christmas season.

I hope you enjoyed this short little heart to heart (i seem to be doing alot of these lately). If you would like to check out my vlog (please do) then you can go to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpBzAFrhPBrlhObNi6ahL4A

As always Merry Blogmas you gorgeous people and I shall see you…TOMORROW!!!

p.s. do comment what christmas means to you also as you know I love hearing what you have to say

Blogmas Day 14: How To: Festive Nail Art

Right before I start this can I just get one thing straight, I am not a beauty blogger or a nail artist and I am genuinely shocking at painting my own nails. Never the less I thought you’d enjoy this quick tutorial. For this look I used: Sally Hansen Insta Grip Faat Dry Base Coat, Collection Hot Looks in colour 37 (Bongo Beats) and Mad Beauty Nail Varnish in a glittery red.

You can customise your own any way you want but I put the top glitter on all of my nails cause I wanted them to match. Before looking I will say I am an addicted nail bitter so my nails aren’t the best length.

Started with bottom coat:

Then put on two coats of the green

Then to finish I did one layer of red glitter on all of them. You could just paint glitter on your ring finger which is what I normally do but I though as its Christmas you can get away with a bit more glitz

That is the finished product (it looks much better in real life but my camera wouldn’t focus) and I’m sure it’ll look a lot better on you as you’ll be able to take your time (unlike me as I’m always late)

Thanks for reading I know this was a bit different but remember to show me your Christmas nails just to make me jealous. Merry Blogmas!

P.S. I CANT PAINT MY NAILS OKAY?!?

Blogmas Day 13: How to: Best Christmas Biscuits

Today my lovelies I bring to you my Best Christmas Biscuit Recipe. I modified this from  http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/863657/spiced-and-iced-christmas-trees. Well let us begin!

You Will Need:

100g butter, chopped

175g dark muscovado sugar

85g golden syrup

350g plain flour, plus extra for dusting

1 tbsp ground ginger

¼ tsp ground cloves

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp bicarbonate of soda

1 egg, beaten

(Plus your choice of icing)

The Steps:

Gently melt the butter, muscovado sugar and syrup in a large pan until the sugar dissolves.

Mix the flour, spices and ½ tsp salt.

Cool the butter mixture a little, then stir in the bicarb. Immediately add half the spiced flour and beat well. Add the egg and the rest of the spiced flour, then beat well again until the mixture comes together as a soft dough.

Tip onto a sheet of foil, flatten to a large disc, then cool and chill until firm (This took me 30 mins). Will freeze for up to 6 weeks.

Now you can select your moulds/shapes/cutters and get creative

Heat oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5. Place them apart on baking sheets. Bake for 12-15 mins until golden. Leave to harden, then lift onto a rack.

Then you are free to decorate them (when the are cool) as you wish, I am shocking at icing so I don’t have a picture of the finished product. Never the less I hope you enjoyed this HOW TO Christmas Edition. I shall see you tomorrow for more Christmas Fun (cringe)!

Merry Blogmas!

Blogmas Day 12: Do they know it’s christmas?

Christmas Time, is a season of joy and celebration for many, it’s an opportunity for people to spend time with their family and friends that they may not typically see. It seems everyone is drinking steaming beverages and gorgeous food and overall just enjoying themselves snuggled up by the fire. But none of this is possible for a lot of people. Last year there were 3’500 people sleeping rough in England and in the USA 1.49 million people were in shelters and 578’000 were on the streets. That means no christmas dinner, drinks or presents for hundreds of thousands in the world and in 2015 it was estimated 1.6 billion people (thats nearly a third of the population) don’t have adequate housing.

Now I know that for many of you it can be frightening to approach someone on the street or you don’t think you can do anything about it. And thats fine, you don’t NEED to. But the problem is that due to the worlds unsteady economy and controversial politics it would be so easy for you reading this to end up without a home also. Then what?

This blog isn’t a plead for charity. Or a trick into your wallets. Its simply a message.

I, myself often become nervous around homeless people. I get anxiety because I dont know them and although I do feel alot of empathy for their position I feel useless, even if I do offer some money or food, how do I know what they will spent it on. I imagine this is how many of you feel also. But you don’t have to go anywhere near someone on the street to help. There are many charity’s around with the aim of giving someone the assistance they need to help them off the street. For example this year me and my Ranger’s group compiled a pile of food, made gifts and donated it to Turrel Trust which is a local charity which will spread the food out to lots of shelters to help feed those on the street at christmas ( https://www.trusselltrust.org/ )

All I ask is you don’t judge the person on the street because you have no idea how they got there or what they have been through, Thankyou for reading, Have a Merry Blogmas

Blogmas Day 11: Pinterest Christmas Outfit Ideas

Today my lovelies I bring to you my favourite Pinterest outfit ideas for the winter/Christmas season. I have complied them into 3 sections; casual, party and pj…I feel like I should’ve used alliteration hang on…parenthetical (googled synonyms). Here are your parenthetical, party and PJ outfits for the season.

Parenthetical: For the everyday

Cute, family friendly outfit, may be a bit boring for some bit I think it’s sweet

The basic outfit everyone wears at Christmas but still manages to look chic on models. I’m sure you’ll be wearing this anyway but it’s always a great staple

This again is another outfit you’ll see around this season but I absolutely loved the jumper and think the colour simply sums up winter and Christmas in one

Party: Christmas parties are coming which mean embarrassing drunkedness and general jolliness

I absolutely love this look, which is why I’m on the hunt for a glittery skirt (if you see one while on your Christmas shop do let me know)

This is another sparkly number (amaxing everyone gets their sequins out at Christmas) and I will definitely be wearing a silver version of this at New Year’s Eve

The sparkly skirts return this time with a black blouse, I love how the constrast each other is well, would look amazing at a Christmas meal

ANOTHER SPARKLY SKIRT! This time paired with the perfect accessories which if course you can change up depending on the event your attending. I especially love the bag!

PJ’s: come on now I could hardly do a winter wardrobe without including the staple outfit choices for most of us when it’s cold outside

Kicking it off is some Victoria Secret pjs (not as sexual as you would imagine) I love these and they are the perfect vintage Christmas pattern

This is probably my favourite Pajama set cause I just love the colour and the little gingerbread man print!

Of course I also had to include some onsies and this one is simply adorable. The picture makes the material look amazingly fluffy that I just want one now!!!

This one is a bit more of a sophisticated onesie (note I said “bit”) I just love the patterns and print so much and think the colours would suit anyone

That concluded my little Pinterest haul. I hope you enjoyed it as I absolutely love Pinterest and am a tiny bit addicted to it so if you wish to follow me my name is: @natschats (be warned I have 6.7k pins). Love you lots, Merry Blogmas one and all
