How to: Clean your makeup brushes…FOR FREE?!

I thought my last post wasn’t THAT long ago, I was wrong.

Anyway today I bring to you another “How to:” blog post where I explain to you how I wash my makeup brushes, wait for it… FOR FREE! IKR

I’not saying this is 100% the best, most highy sanitary way of doing it but, if its good enough for your hair, it must be good enough for your brushes…right? I bet some of you are very confused but keep reading and in these very concise steps i will explain to you how to do that thing that you’re meant to do but never end up doing. LETS GO!

STEP 1: RINCEY RINCEY

Okay so there is one slight catch, if you pay your water bill then you’ll have to pay for that stuff that comes out your tap. Either way, take that water and give your dirty ass brushes a good old rincey rincey!

STEP 2: DUNKEY DUNKEY

So, you know those free shampoo bottles you get in hotels that you never use but “steal” anyway and keep for a rainy day? Well, check the weather forecast because it’s time to dig them out (excuse the pun, I found it funny). Take off the lid (duh!) and either dip your brush in or pour it on.

STEP 3: SWISHY SWISHY

Then, take your brush and give it a good old swish around your (hopefully) clean hands. Then your get to see all that dirt come off and feel awful that you hadn’t done it sooner. (FYI: by swish I mean push in circles around your hand, but im sure any other form of swishing does the same trick!)

STEP 4: RINCEY EY REPEATEY

Dunk into a bowl/sink of water and repeat the old swishes into the water. feel free to apply more shampoo and swishing if needs be until water is clear because then your brushes SHALL BE CLEAN!

STEP 5: ADMIREY

Admire your work, boast on twitter, chuck them at your friends because you my friend shall have the cleanest makeup alliances around.

There you have it, i hope you enjoyed that little DIY post. If you have any more questions feel free to comment or hit me up on any of my social media platforms (pretty much enter NatsChatsTV into anything and you should see my smiling face), including Instagram which if you have come from i would like to say a very big hello to. Please do enter your Instagram name and I will try to follow you back, thank you very much.

Just a reminder, this technique is what i use, i am not a beauty technician or medical expert so if this goes horribly bad for you (somehow) then i am very sorry, maybe your shouldn’t use that shampoo in the future.

ALSO: A little extra step you can add if using cleanser which apparently makes your brushes softer, I dont tend to do this cause…well…im lazy, but do tell me if this makes any difference.

See you soon my lovelies!

Superdrug Face mask Review

Please ignore the fact I have been A-WALL for nearly a month, I am a very busy person and I will not bother you with the reasons why, just know i am very sorry and embarrassed.

But today I though i would do a cheeky review of some products even though it isn’t NatsChats Tuesday. Today i will be reviewing some of the Superdrug face masks which are normally £1 each which i will say right now is an absolute bargain. I love Superdrug as i feel like I can always trust their products plus they often have many deals and sales on which means i am always picking up my old favourite and new experimental beauty bits.

The three Superdrug Face masks were:

  •  “Superdrug Cooling Cucumber Face Mask” ideal for Sensitive Skin
  • “Superdrug Dead sea purifying Face mask” ideal for Oily and Blemish Prone Skin
  • ” Superdrug Tropical Cocktail Peel – Off Mask” ideal for all skin types.

Up first is the Cooling Cucumber. It says in the description that it refreshes and cools skin which i must say is exactly correct. I only washed this one off about 10 minutes ago but my face is still cool. Its quite an odd sensation actually, it feels like I’ve got cold slime on my face (but obviously just feels like soft skin to the touch. One problem i did find however was the fact that it made the blackheads on my nose GREEN! That has washed off now but if you didn’t wash your face properly after I am afraid you may be walking round with a small resemblance to Shrek!

Next is the dead sea drama. Don’t be put off my the menacing name, the only slightly fishy ingredient in it is Dead Sea Salt. I didn’t know salt could die but I guess you learn something new everyday! It smells wonderful but it does say its meant to stop breakouts which I’m sad to say it hasn’t. I’m still getting spots in the usual places however i will say it helped the spots i already have go away.

And last but certainly not least we have our Tropical cocktail. i am a tad biased towards this one as I definitely prefer peel – Off masks as you can literally see the gunk leaving your face (grim I know). But yeah I really enjoyed using this one as it again smelt amazing (very summery) and appeared to fully clean out my pores. Obviously my pores did not stay clean for long but it was nice while it lasted.

My perfect face mask would be one that cleaned out your pores and them shrunk them up because mine are getting pretty chunky in some places! So if you know any masks like that please do let me know. I hope you enjoyed this little review and may I say again how much i highly recommend this brand of face masks. they do not test on animals and contain a lot of natural ingredients and so I’m nearly 100% sure they are all vegan and vegetarian friendly (at least most are)!

See you soon Chums!

My Top Beauty Tips (that actually work!)

Good Day my lovely ladies, HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! Also Happy Birthday to me as the world was blessed with my presence all those years ago when I pooped out at 8 pm on the 14th of February…soz mum. Today I wanted to share with you my all time top beauty tips that actually work and I use most of them on the daily! They just make life  a whole lot easier for those make up fanatics among us. And as It’s valentines day I know a lot of you will wanna get all glammed up so you can spend time with BAE… be that your “special friend”, friends or simply yourself. I will be spending the day with my family as it is my birthday but tbh if it wasn’t i would probably be spending valentines day eating chocolates and watching rom-coms whilst trying to get over the horrible cold i have atm. Anyway down to business:

TIP NUMBER ONE: (the most well known)

Cutting up your fake eyelashes before applying.

So many of you may have heard this tip before but im here to tell you IT ACTUALLY WORKS. Those pesky eyelashes you buy are always way too long which makes them even harder to put on than it already is. BUT, if you trim them to your desired length and then cut them into 1/2’s, 1/3’s or even 1/4’s you’ll find it much easier to put on your eye. This is because you can put them in the correct place easier which means flirtatious fluttering eyelashes for all – so even if you dont have a date you soon will do!

TIP NUMBER TWO: (the clever one)

Painting under your fake nails

Now the title can be a bit misleading but all it means it, before applying fake nails (if you do them at home) paint a similar colour on your nail first because then if they fall off (which they always bloody do!) no one needs to know because unless they look really blooming close no one will even flicker their voluminous eyelashes.

TIP NUMBER THREE: (the lazy one)

Baby Powder Everything!

Baby or Talc Powder is literally God’s gift for lazy people like me, it can be used for anything. You may know its great for “baking” (whatever the hell that is) but it can also be used really well for contouring so you can get dem defined cheekbones (or collorbones or thighs…or whatever the next contour trend is). PLUS: (A CHEEKY HAIR TIP) it’s also a great alternative to dry shampoo. If its been a while since your hairs seen the warmth of a shower simply rub a bit of baby powder in and no one will know. Just make sure you really rub in a small bit or your hair will go grey! I havent bought dry shampoo for about 5 years because of this – it’s amazing!

TIP NUMBER FOUR: (the utterly fabulous one)

Cheap Makeup

This is my Valentines gift for you my lovelies! Not many people know but a lot of makeup brands come from the same company and so if you order makeup from the primary company it is often discounted as it never hits the shops. For Example REVOLUTION (Makeup Revolution London) is owned by TAM Beauty (https://www.tambeauty.com/en/gb/Home.aspx) so hop down there for all the discounted makeup your little heart could desire and treat yourself this valentines day!.

There you go my darlings, I hope you have a fantastic Valentines Day no matter what you’re doing (please do let me know as a little birthday treat cause Im a nosy cow) at least now you can look great whilst doing it and can upload a flawless selfie (not that you need any of these tips for that you beautiful beings), love you lots! Blogmas Day 18: My Hair Dye Passion

Before I start I would just like to say I am aware that this is going up a day late but that is because christmas is a very busy time of year and I simply had no time to upload last night. I am also aware that this is not a very christmassy themed blog post but it is a real passion of mine and I feel like Blogmas is all about you getting to know me.

In todays blog I will be sharing and talking through some of my favourite hair colour ideas I have found on Pinterest over the years. But first allow me to tell you my hair colour story: I once ombre’d my hair red. Yeah thats it. For someone who is obsessed with coloured hair I have a pretty boring personal history of hair but I am still in a college which doesn’t like you having “un-natural” hair so for now i’ll just have to wait.

So anyway lets begin on our hair journey through the universe of pinterest…

THE OMBRE’S:

Here are the dyed hair styles which are a tad less crazy and vibrant for those that just want a hint of colour or just want to try it out before dying the whole thing. This is great cause it means if you do hate it you can just chop it off instead to going through the whole process of re dying or waiting for it to grow out.

This is so so pretty, and would look amazing especially if you had straight hair like the girl here.

I’ve actually always wanted to ombre my hair blue but of course as i mentioned earlier it aint that natural. This is a weirdly subtle blue though and is quite pastel which is also really pretty.

OMG SO MUCH COLOUR. This is perfect for those who love colour and I also think it looks great with this girls natural hair colour. Just think about how great it would look with loads of different updo’s.

I think this one is absolutely gorgeous! I love the fact that its a subtle lavender and it also goes really well with the woman’s bob shoulder length hair style.

This last one is a very fun and feminine ombre that I feel would probably look better with blonde that brunette and it also quite subtle as only a short amount has been dyed pink.

FULL ON COLOUR:

Pinners that have dyed their whole head cause they know what they want and are owning it! Get your bleach at the ready people.

This year was definitely the year for pastel’s and greys and I feel like this pin clearly represents both. Its a really cute mix of lavender and grey tones which work so well together.

Omg i just love everything about this; the hair, the makeup, the jewelry! So much so in fact I followed her on instagram: Sophiehannahrichardson (and mine’s nats_my_name – in case you were interested!)

What did i say about pastel shades? I love how random this hair colour choice is but it really works and also think it would suit literally any skin shade.

For my last pin I chose a darker shade which is equally as gorgeous. I think this would suit people who have naturally darker hair and think the added flower crown is amazing!

CRAZY COLOURS

The pro hair dyers which have amazing mermaid hair that belongs in a fairytale!

OML! I cannot even begin to explain how much I love these 2 colours together. I also think the woman’s hairstyle is pretty cool too, i think its diagonal!

There are many different names for this type of dying job but lets just say an under colour. I absolutely love this look and if given the opportunity (an money) to do it I wouldn’t hesitate!

To finish is one of my favourites. Who would think that this combination of colours would make something so gorgeous. Literally #goals

I hope you enjoyed this little window into the world of my passions. Merry Blogmas Everyone!

Blogmas Day 14: How To: Festive Nail Art

Right before I start this can I just get one thing straight, I am not a beauty blogger or a nail artist and I am genuinely shocking at painting my own nails. Never the less I thought you’d enjoy this quick tutorial. For this look I used: Sally Hansen Insta Grip Faat Dry Base Coat, Collection Hot Looks in colour 37 (Bongo Beats) and Mad Beauty Nail Varnish in a glittery red.

You can customise your own any way you want but I put the top glitter on all of my nails cause I wanted them to match. Before looking I will say I am an addicted nail bitter so my nails aren’t the best length.

Started with bottom coat:

Then put on two coats of the green

Then to finish I did one layer of red glitter on all of them. You could just paint glitter on your ring finger which is what I normally do but I though as its Christmas you can get away with a bit more glitz

That is the finished product (it looks much better in real life but my camera wouldn’t focus) and I’m sure it’ll look a lot better on you as you’ll be able to take your time (unlike me as I’m always late)

Thanks for reading I know this was a bit different but remember to show me your Christmas nails just to make me jealous. Merry Blogmas!

P.S. I CANT PAINT MY NAILS OKAY?!?
