12 Days of Natsmas: Christmas Day in the life (9)

I mean…it’s pretty self explanatory

I know, I missed a day, Im sorry. However, I have realised that this now means we are on track now as I accidently started the “12 days” a day early, so now it means we’ll finish on christmas eve as planned. My math skills are clearly lacking.

7:30 – (not so) rudely awoken by my mother after my alarm failed.

7:45 – Actually got out of bed and went down stairs to a breakfast of Pain au Chocolat. Very nice, only ate one of them so hid the other in the bin because I was too full and in a rush.

*Cue a day if College “fun” with hardly any christmas events whatsoever.*

2:00 – Driving lesson, I’m pretty sure that my instructor was half an hour early but I may be wrong.

3:30 – Arrived home and had a drink – im not entirely sure why this took so long but…

4:00 – danced around my room whilst deciding what to wear to tonight’s christmas party – whoop, whoop.

Finally settled on a basic grey vest top (which was once my brothers) with a burgundy bralette. Plus my glittery skirt which many of you may have seen in my outfits blog post. And some tights and a grey, bobbly cardigan because it’s bloomin freezing.

4:30- carried on dancing even though I have to leave in 30 mins and have a naked face.

4:38 – finally started doing my make up (filmed a very quick get ready of me that should go on the YouTube Channel at some point!

5:10 – Left house late to pick up friend and take to other friends house

5:54 – began peeling and cutting veg at friends house ready for Friend xmas dinner, had in depth discussion about which way to slice carrots – settled on coins so there appears more!

6:32 – Veg all prepared and in saucepans on hob, ready to begin boiling. I have begin drinking cider at this point as the stress surrounding our hostess is not as contagious as it should be.

6:50 – My “Christmas Dinner” playlist begins and the three of us decide where we will sit on the table (together).

7:10 – Guests begin arriving, veg begins to boil and Cauli-broc is put in oven.

7:30 – Yorkshires arrive and most of the guests are here, many photos are taken by our hostess’ Christmas tree – drinks are in full swing at this point. As some guests are really quite late (and are bringing the pigs in blankets and Potatoes) the veg and oven are turned waaaayyyyy down.

7:55 – food is all dished up and as we begin eating the final guests arrived with the (pre -cooked, thankfully) food.

8:00 – crackers are pulled, jokes are told, life is good.

9:10 – I make a (slightly drunken) speech thanking hostess and cooker and then everyone begins chanting meaning I have to finish off a bottle of lambrini- bad idea. We then open our secret santas – I recieve: Hot Chocolate, Cocktail mixers, another bottle of lambrini and some slipper socks – lovely!

9:50 – after a (not so) quick bathroom and smoke break we begin our quiz after being randomly genorated into teams – that somehow made every couple into the same team accidentally.

10:40 – the quiz is over, my team one – somehow, even though i could see entirely well by this point. We spend the next 20 mins dancing to everyones fave songs (including mans not hot – i mean wow *sarcastic*)

11:10 – we head home and I stumble up to bed, slightly sick and spinning. This is what happens when a party finishes early- you reach your drunk peak when you arrive home – sad really.

Anyway, that was my Christmassy day

I hope you enjoyed that little outlook into my life – this is not a typical day but was very special as I got to celebrate the holidays with my closest friends and eat a hella lot of food

Merry Natsmas!

12 Days of Natsmas: Fave Christmas Food (7)

You know what? This may be my favourite topic to talk about. Who am I kidding THIS IS THE BEST TOPIC TO BLOG ABOUT!

Yes that’s right FOOOOOOODDDDD!!!

Today I will giving you a list of my top picks for Christmas nibbles and meals. Some will be branded whereas others are more general foods (this could even be a hint to everyone out there looking at what to get me for Christmas!)

To start off with it what Christmas is made of for me. Since discovering these a few years ago, I have fallen in love. They are paired perfect with a cup of tea, adding to your daily calorie intake in no time. These are the “Favourina Spiced Biscuits” you can find at Lidl for a measly £1.39. they taste absolutely glorious and I’ve already been through a whole pack this Christmas! They are a perfect size and have festive cut outs on them – beautiful!

Next up is a more general one which I often eat all year round (on a sunday – hint hint), but are extra special in winter, especially Christmas day! This is Roast Potatoes (preferably in gravy). I belive that this is the best part of any roast dinner, however, they are hard to get just right. I often find my self tucking into a soggy or try potato which to be honest is not acceptable. No one should have to suffer the pain of sinking their teeth into a soggy tat. May your days be blessed with fluffy and crispy tatas!

A perfect pair to our perfect tats is gravy. I mean, you literally cannot have a roast without it. When you think about it, the concept of pouring meaty water over your food is a tad strange but it sure does taste good! My personal favourite would be “Bisto Best” – i’m going to be honest when I first saw it I though it would all be a con to get more money out of you (as it is a bit on the pricey side of gravy) however, once i tried it in my own roast, i never went back! There are now lots of different flavours so if you fancy being a bit more fancy this Christmas… Click here

Next up we have chocolate which to be honest is the thing that makes you put on the pounds. I discovered my favourite this year actually. It wasn’t my first time eating it by a long shot but I realised how addictive I found them. them being “Maltesers” of course. The “merry teaser mini reindeer’s” they bring out are even more tasty and add a little Christmas spirit to your bite. Truly adorable, see all the products Morrisons alone do for Malteser here

Another fantastic Christmassy treat is the Yule Log. Not a specific product but an amazing bake all the same. I’m not the biggest fan of Christmas Pudding, so this is what I’ll be eating come christmas day desert. A close cousin to the yule log is the roly-poly which is equally delicious with some custard and is guaranteed to warm up your insides.

Last but by no means least is a dish that I can just picture all my friends waiting for. That is the famous Coombs Cheese Board. Although this is enjoyed by the family all year round (only Friday to Sunday of course) it gets a glamorous update around Christmas time. In fact below I have included a picture of our fridge currently, getting ready for Christmas:

(yes that is a whole shelf of cheese)

There is no Christmas without Cheese and Buiscas

(Nice Rhyme)

Anyway Merry Natsmas to all, and to all good night

12 Days of Natsmas: PLAN (1)

HAPPY 2 YEARS TO NATSCHATS ON WORDPRESS!!!

Hello my lovelies, and Welcome to the first day of Natsmas!!!

That’s right, I didn’t think I could hack the full 24 days of blogmas however, 12 days seems much more manageable and I even get to throw in a play on words.

So day one of Natsmas as you can see by the above title is a plan, I thought this would be a good idea so that everyone reading would be able to get excited with me about all the lovely stuff we have coming up!

If you have any further suggestion, I am open to all ideas as I do have a bit of room to move stuff around, but, for now, here is the line up for the next 11 days UNTIL XMAS!!!

Phew! That’s alotta work to do, I better get cracking. The twelfth day Christmas song challenge has already taken up a lot of time and I am very excited to see the results myself, if you would like to be part of it please do let me know and I will sent you the list! There will be a few videos over on YouTube to go along with some of these Blog Posts if you fancy giving them a watch, so keep an eye out.

Also, I would just like to say sorry about the lack of Instagram posts but that is because I have had to delete Instagram for a little while, I should have it back after Natsmas tho so it will be back again for 2018!

How crazy is it that there’s less than a month left of 2017, it feels like only a few weeks ago I was welcoming it and now its over. I am scared, but also very happy to see what the new year bring as I can guarantee it will be one of the most eventful years of my young life. I will keep you updated every step of the way though!

See you tomorrow,

Blogmas Day 16: What Christmas means to me?

Okay so I may have accidentally skipped at day…But come on it’s my first time, everyone makes mistakes (cheeky 😉 )!

But to make it up to you I have uploaded a video to NatsChatsTV (my YouTube Channel for those who don’t know) where I showed you a quick summary of The 1975 show I went to last night. IT WAS AMAZING! Although it was the reason I didn’t upload a blog post. But just think instead of writing something I gave you something which requires much less effort (on your part at least) all you have to do is watch a video to find out what I was up to instead of reading a horrifically spelt blog.

But anyway moving onto today’s Blogmas I though I’d take advice from my old pal Stevie Wonder and tell you “what Christmas means to me”.

For many it’s a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ (It is a religious holiday dont forget) but I feel like it has evolved from the original meaning. To be it is now an opportunity to meet with all my family and friends which I may not normally see the rest of the year. It is also a time to show other people how much they mean to you (yes presents) and just generally have a little relax at the end of the year and reflect on what you have done and accomplished. I know that some of you may not celebrate Christmas due to difference in faith or any other opinion/belief but you can still join in on the season by simply enjoying yourself (at least most of you will get a day off).

As I said it’s also a great time to just chill after your busy year (its nearly over) and look forward to what the future brings. A great excuse to put of a few (or a few more than a few) pounds and allow yourself to smile and laugh and be merry. I find that many people try to disguise themselves and their true emotions nowadays because they’re scared of what others will think but, let us just think. If we all relaxed and let our emotions be free (just for once) then surely there would be no judgement and therefore no need for anyone to be putting up shields. Please remember this when you’re out and about this Christmas season.

I hope you enjoyed this short little heart to heart (i seem to be doing alot of these lately). If you would like to check out my vlog (please do) then you can go to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpBzAFrhPBrlhObNi6ahL4A

As always Merry Blogmas you gorgeous people and I shall see you…TOMORROW!!!

p.s. do comment what christmas means to you also as you know I love hearing what you have to say

Blogmas Day 12: Do they know it’s christmas?

Christmas Time, is a season of joy and celebration for many, it’s an opportunity for people to spend time with their family and friends that they may not typically see. It seems everyone is drinking steaming beverages and gorgeous food and overall just enjoying themselves snuggled up by the fire. But none of this is possible for a lot of people. Last year there were 3’500 people sleeping rough in England and in the USA 1.49 million people were in shelters and 578’000 were on the streets. That means no christmas dinner, drinks or presents for hundreds of thousands in the world and in 2015 it was estimated 1.6 billion people (thats nearly a third of the population) don’t have adequate housing.

Now I know that for many of you it can be frightening to approach someone on the street or you don’t think you can do anything about it. And thats fine, you don’t NEED to. But the problem is that due to the worlds unsteady economy and controversial politics it would be so easy for you reading this to end up without a home also. Then what?

This blog isn’t a plead for charity. Or a trick into your wallets. Its simply a message.

I, myself often become nervous around homeless people. I get anxiety because I dont know them and although I do feel alot of empathy for their position I feel useless, even if I do offer some money or food, how do I know what they will spent it on. I imagine this is how many of you feel also. But you don’t have to go anywhere near someone on the street to help. There are many charity’s around with the aim of giving someone the assistance they need to help them off the street. For example this year me and my Ranger’s group compiled a pile of food, made gifts and donated it to Turrel Trust which is a local charity which will spread the food out to lots of shelters to help feed those on the street at christmas ( https://www.trusselltrust.org/ )

All I ask is you don’t judge the person on the street because you have no idea how they got there or what they have been through, Thankyou for reading, Have a Merry Blogmas
